Bettielee McAlister Obituary



Timmonsville, SC – Bettielee Huggins McAlister, 87, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020.

Mrs. McAlister was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late Herbert H. and Mae Wilson Huggins. She was a member of the Timmonsville Southern Methodist Church. Bettielee retired from the Presbyterian Home as the Director of Housekeeping with 20 years of service. She previously worked for many years in the accounting departments of Coble Dairy and Merita Bakery. Bettielee was known for her love of baking and sharing her famous cold oven pound cake and earthquake cake.

She was formerly married to the late Wallie L. White, Sr. and then to the late J.R. “Reggie” McAlister.

Surviving are two sons, Walkie (Patti) White, Terry D. White; daughter, Martha (Michael) Coats; grandchildren, Dee (Mandi) White, Julia White, Jesse (Casey) White, Scott King, Christopher King, Leslie (David) Glad, Brad (Brittany) Coats, Kelsey White; great-grandchildren, Dalton and Maylee White, Ellie and Liam White, Parker Ford and Emma Morris, Connor, Austin, and Brady Glad, Brinley and Briggs Coats, Maggie Weaver, Christian King, Remi, Bexley and Callie King.  She is preceded in death by a son Rusty King; daughter, Cindy Gee; brother, Marion Thad Huggins and sisters, Carolyn H. Fisher, and Mary Wilson H. Steakley.

A Private Graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Byrd Cemetery in Timmonsville, SC officiated by Rev. Shane Courson and Rev. Alvin Cribb.
