Obituary

Florence, SC - Valeria Kirby Mims, 87, died Friday, June 9, 2023 in a Columbia assisted  living facility.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church.  Visitation will follow the church service and there will be a private burial at the Florence Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Mims was born in Timmonsville, daughter of the late Ralph Waldo and Hattie Langston Kirby. She was employed by General Electric of Florence. She attended Southside Baptist Church and later attended the Florence Baptist Temple.

Surviving is one sister Mrs. Bonnie Ruth Mixon of Timmonsville, 2 daughters, Donna Leslie of Florence, and Collette Richardson of Effingham. 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by 5 sisters, Charlotte Kirby, Mrs. Motie Coleman, Mrs. Cordelia Dorrell, Mrs. Winnie Lou Defee, and Mrs. Rheba Hinson; 5 brothers, Habron Kirby, Burnette Kirby, Gordon Kirby, Waldo Kirby and Emerson Kirby.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, 4071 Creek Rd. Timmonsville, SC 29161
