Mr. Springs was born in Florence County, the son of the late Herbert and Ovelia Hendricks Springs.
Rudy Springs was a proud Navy man, and served our country on the U.S.S Capricornus. With 36 years of service in different positions Rudy retired for Noland Company. After retirement, he worked with Carolina Hardware. He was a member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church. He loved fishing, growing vegetables and fruit in his garden, traveling around the world, and working in his garage full of projects and tools. His pride and joy were his grapevine and blueberry bushes, in which he would share with his family and friends. One of his favorite places to visit daily was Hardee’s, where he would always have a sausage biscuit amongst his friends and wife, Ann. Rudy loved his grandchildren, but second of all, he loved to tease them. From playing 50 card pick up, to hiding someone’s phone, to chasing them around with a worm on a stick. He never missed a sports game, pageant, recital, or birthday; he was always there for his grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking fried squash, eating watermelon with salt, smoking cigars, and watching old western movies. Rudy Springs had the most beautiful, bright blue eyes that sparkled any time he was being mischievous. He was a brilliant, dedicated, hilarious man and gem of the Springs family.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Ann Green Springs; two sons, Laurens (Esther) Springs, Jason (Tracy) Springs; two daughters, Melissa Ann (Michael) Miller, Terry Lynn (Tony) Floyd; brother, Billy (Marlene) Springs; sister, Amanda (Ed) Russell and his 13 special loving grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brothers, Lionel, Claude and Ted Michael Springs and sister, Annie Lou Springs.
Memorials may be made to the Darlington County Humane Society, 1705 Adoption Way, Darlington, SC 29532
