Norma (Utsey) Hamer

Florence, SC – Norma Utsey Hamer, 79, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 after an Illness.

A memorial service will be Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church. The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church.

Norma was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late Earl Oscar  and Georgia Harris Utsey, Jr.  She was a member of Central United Methodist Church.  A business graduate of Francis Marion University, Norma retired as the Executive Director of the Chapin Area Chamber of Commerce before she returned to Florence.  Norma was very active at Central United Methodist Church, a member of the Sarah Blanton Sunday School class, a Stephen Minister and a Bible study leader.

Norma was predeceased by her husband Cecil “Bud” Hamer. 

Surviving are a daughter, Reverend Meg (Jay)  Bryce Jiunnies; a son, Clyde Smith (Kerry) Bryce, III; a beloved brother, Earl (Rachel) Utsey and her grandchildren. Meghan (William) Brunson, Maggie (Greyson) Kanemitsu, Chandler Bryce, Tyner Jiunnies and nephews that she loved like grandchildren, Timothy Utsey,  and Michael Utsey.  She was fortunate to have bonus children, Melissa (Eric) Hamer-Bailey, and Drew (Renee) Hamer.  She was a loving grandmother to Sam and Emmett Hamer-Bailey.  Norma was blessed to have two great-grandchildren, Aria and Billy Kanemitsu.

Memorials may be made to  Central United Methodist Church pastors’ discretionary fund.
