Mary (Stuckey) Dorriety

Timmonsville, SC – Mary Stuckey Dorriety, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.

Graveside services will be Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2023  at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dorriety was born in Lamar, SC, the daughter of the late Henry Ashton Stuckey and the late Louise Hill Stuckey.  Mary was a member of First Baptist Church in Timmonsville, SC.  She had various jobs during her lifetime including: Timmonsville Town Clerk, Timmonsville First Baptist Church Secretary, Timmonsville Oil Mill bookkeeper and Timmonsville Public Library Assistant.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed reading and gardening.

Surviving are her son, Mr. Willard (Ruth) Dorriety, Florence, SC; grandchildren, Rev. Jason (Ann) Dorriety of Anderson, SC and Mrs. Jessica (Joel) Graham, Florence, SC; great- grandchildren, Betsy and Will Dorriety; sister, Mrs. Grace Register, Marietta, Georgia.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Stuckey and Alex Stuckey.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Nursing Home of Florence for the loving care for Mrs. Dorriety over the last 9 years.  Also, special thanks to the McLeod Hospice House for providing medical care and loving support to Mrs. Dorriety and her family.
