Marion Gunter Langston, 89, of Timmonsville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 28, 2024 after an extended illness.
Services honoring Mr. Langston’s life, legacy and faith will be Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church. The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Langston was born in Florence County, the son of the late Wade D. and Catherine Ouida Huggins Langston. He graduated from Clemson University, class of 1956, where he was a member of the rifle team. Marion was part of an elite group of gentlemen in the Timmonsville area that gathered to enjoy flying airplanes. He was a faithful member of Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on various committees throughout his life. Marion enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and Clemson football; he also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting with family and friends. He was retired from Stone Container where he worked as a General Mechanic. Marion lived his life as a testament to his faith in Christ and his love of his family.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Lucille Miller Langston; two sons, Gunter (Darby) Langston and Rhian Langston; a daughter, Fran Langston; and two grandchildren, Gunter Langston III, and Reddick Langston. He is preceded in death by a brother, Wade Langston, Jr.
