Florence, SC – Lettie McManus Duke Freeman, 94, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow the service at Lake Swamp Baptist Cemetery, Timmonsville.
Mrs. Lettie was born in Sumter, the daughter of the late Thomas Marion and Margaret Windham McManus. She was a member of Lamar First Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She never ceased providing spiritual, emotional and physical nourishment to everyone.
She was first married to the late James Delbert Duke and then to Dudley William Freeman, Jr.
Surviving are two sons, Larry (Becky) Duke, William (Lisa) Freeman; two daughters, Elaine (Ray) Gambrell, Patsy (David) Polk; nine grandchildren, Tabitha (Andy) Chandler, Chuck (Leigh) Polk, Tiffany (Casey) Corley, Larry (Michelle) Duke, Jr., Brad (Meagan)Duke, Dr. James (Cheryl) Gambrell, Frederick (Samantha) Gambrell, Andrew Freeman, Austin Freeman; great-grandchildren, Parker Vause, Tanner Vause, Landon Grooms, Tripp Polk, Charlotte Polk, Coleman Corley, Anna Kate Corley, Ace James, Ryland Duke, Sara Grace Duke, Braden Duke, Blaine Duke, Ella McKenzie Duke, Bradleigh Gambrell, Conor Gambrell, Jacob Gambrell, Nora Gambrell, Jacob Gambrell, Nora Gambrell, Cash Gambrell, Lilianna Gambrell. She is preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Duke and her siblings, Jessie Lee Hancock, Mary Meggs, Ester O’Dell Windham and Tom McManus.
