Laurice Rhem, III Obituary

Sumter, SC -  Laurice Furnifold Rhem III, 90, of North Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully, Sunday June 19, 2022 at Covenant Place in Sumter, SC.

Born in Charleston SC, the son of the late Laurice Furnifold Rhem, Jr and Louise Harper Rhem.

 He received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and his Masters degree from Western Carolina University. He was a principal and an Algebra teacher over his years of tenure before retiring from Horry County Public Schools. He was known for his kind, loving, and gentle spirit. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed, especially on sunny South Carolina mornings drinking coffee on the front porch. He loved cheering on the Clemson tigers and doing crossword puzzles with his dog Molly.

 He married the love of his life, the late Shirley Ann Lawhon, and shared their lives together for 47 years

He is survived by his two children, Cynthia (Cindy) Louise Rhem Boone, husband James Eddie (Chipp) Boone, Jr of Lynchburg, SC and Laurice Furnifold (Reese) Rhem IV, wife Charlene Robarts Rhem of Charlotte, NC;  5 grand-children, Lauren, Hailey, CJ, wife Ashleigh, RJ and Weston and 5 great grandchildren, Mariah, Makayla, Mya, Rhemy and James and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Hill.

Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia, SC.
