Florence, SC – Johnny Pierce Broadway, 91, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023 at 12:00 at Southside Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Johnny was born in Paxville, South Carolina, the son of the late John D and Pearl Pierce Broadway.
In his formative years he attended John De La Howe School in McCormick, SC., and graduated from McClenaghan High School. Mr. Broadway served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Johnny received his certification in Electronics from DeVry Technical College. Mr. Broadway was the owner of Broadway’s TV Sales and Service for 30 years. He was active in the American Legion, VFW, Jaycees, Lions Club, WOW. He was the director of the Miss Florence Pageant for a number of years. He loved the outdoors, the lake and fishing and most of all he loved his family. He was a talker, a great story teller and loved people. Johnny was an active member of Southside Baptist Church and he loved his daily walk with his LORD.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Helen June Obradovich Broadway; daughters, Debbie Broadway, Rhonda (Jerry) Haynes; nephew "son", Glenn (Cathy) Haselden; his grandchildren, Corey Broadway (Brittany Parsons) Haynes, Hunter Keith Haynes, great grand-daughter, Lillian Pearl Haynes. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Murray Broadway, Ray Atkinson, George Atkinson; three sisters Marjorie Broadway Brinkley, Marion Broadway and Jean Marie A. Haselden.
The family would like to “thank” Dr. Shah and the staff of McLeod Hospice House for the care and attention given during their stay.
