Mrs. Johnnie Mae Young Welch, 87, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Born in Florence County, SC, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Lillie Mae Gardner Young. She was the widow of Joseph Dean Welch. She is survived by her daughter, Gaye Welch Hyman (Christopher); son, Jerry Lyn Welch (Sarah); brother, Michael Young; sister, Peggy Young Perez (Ralph); grandchildren, Chase Hyman, Grant Hyman, Lillie Catherine Hyman, Austin Welch, Jessica Welch. A graveside service to honor her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, in Florence Memorial Gardens. The Directors of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home are caring for the family.
