Jim Ribley, Sr. Obituary

Darlington, SC – James Francis Ribley, Sr., 87, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020.

A private family graveside service will be Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 at Florence Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Ribley was born in Lima, Ohio, the son of the late Robert Joseph and Sarah Avondale Ribley.  He was retired from the US Air Force with 21 years of service as a Computer Maintenance at NORAD and numerous other radar sites across the world.    He also worked for the Morning News as a Customer Service Representative. Jim attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and he volunteered with the Florence Humane Society  Equine Rescue where he assisted in the rescue of several horses.  He also served  with the  Florence Literacy Council and he taught Cateschism at St. Ann’s for many years.   He was an avid Notre Dame fan (Go Irish).

Jim was married to his childhood sweetheart, the late Johanna Ladden Ribley, for 56 years at the time of her passing.

Surviving are a son, James “Bim” (Bonnie) Ribley, Jr.; three daughters, Rosie Mitchell, Theresa “Teri” Ribley, and Barb Ribley Brigman; nine grandchildren, Mike (Kim) Ribley, Joi (Scott) Wolfe, Jim Ribley, III, Robert (Audrey) Ribley, Cari (Jestin) Stetler, Eric (Vanessa) Mitchell, Jake (Megan) Mitchell, Sherri VanDuzer, Carson Brigman and twenty-four great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by a son, Robert Joseph Ribley,II  and a sister, Rita Cisco, as well as his beloved dog, Tater, who passed recently.
