Timmonsville, SC – Gladys Matthews Singletary, went home to her Heavenly Father Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 after spending 102 years on earth.
The family will have a time of visitation from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021 at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later time.
Mrs. Singletary was born in Effingham, SC, the daughter of the late Ervin Luther and Annie Rebecca Filyaw Matthews. She was a member of Peniel Baptist Church.
Gladys was married to the late Charlie Brooks Singletary.
Surviving are daughter-in-law, Anne Singletary; brother, Don (Sylvia) Matthews; her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is preceded by her son, Brooks Singletary; brothers, Luther, Fred, David and Wilbur Matthews; sisters, Doris Timmons and Annie Jo Skipper.
