Cynthia Eleazer Obituary

Cynthia Sue Eleazer, 76, of Florence passed away January 20, 2021, after a brief battle with lung cancer at McLeod Hospice House.

She was born to Albert Henry Eleazer and Dorothy Teague Feagan Eleazer in Columbia, SC. Cynthia graduated from Williston-Elko High School and Winthrop College.

She married the late Eric Lee Edwards in 1964 and moved to Florence, SC. Cynthia is survived by a daughter, Lisa Edwards (William) Freeman, and two grandsons, Andrew Freeman and Austin Freeman, all of Florence. She is also survived by two sisters, Linda Smith of Columbia, SC and Janice (Robert) Free of Edisto Island, SC, and a brother, Albert H. “Hank” (Pam) Eleazer, Jr. of Pickens County, SC. She was predeceased by her first husband in 1980.

Cynthia worked as a legal secretary in Florence from the 1960s through the 1980s, after which she started a business as a freelance court reporter that she ran until retirement. She loved working in her yard and growing heirloom vegetables in her garden. Cynthia was fiercely independent and lived her life exactly the way she wanted right to the very end. Her greatest gifts to her daughter were teaching her to love the Lord, and that she could do anything she put her mind to.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at McLeod Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care during Cynthia’s illness.
