Timmonsville, SC – William B “Bobby” Matthews, 80, passed away on Jan. 7, 2021.
Graveside services will be Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will speak to those attending after the service at the cemetery. Social distancing will be observed, you are asked to wear a mask. Family and friends are welcome to Drop-In between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Matthews was born in Florence County, the son of the late Jessie Leo and Annie Lee Lundy Matthews. He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church. Bobby was retired as a Warehouse Manager doing business in welding supplies and involved with sales of the supplies. Bobby served as a Deacon in the Church, he enjoyed the Men’s fellowship suppers and other activities of the Church. He loved to camp-out and fish. He never met a stranger and loved to talk with people. To those grandchildren that called him “Pawpaw” he especially loved them.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jeannette Alsbrooks Matthews; son, Bryan Matthews; brothers, Larry (Linda) Matthews, Kenneth “Bucky” Matthews; grandchildren, Madyson Boggs, Allen Matthews and a number of nieces and nephews; mother of his grandchildren, Melissa Hunt and her husband, Ken. He preceded in death by brother, Donnie Matthews and sisters, Betty Windham and Annie Jo Pace and a grandchild, Malachi Matthews.
