Florence, SC - Bessie Evelyn Blanton “Sally” Gaddy, died on April 15 after a long and rich life.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson
Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Byrd Cemetery, Timmonsville. The family will speak to those attending from 3:30 to 4:00 before the service.
She was born to Jesse Graham Blanton and Fletcher Stanley Blanton, in Dillon County near Kemper. She moved to the Duford area of Horry County and attended schools at Floyds and at Nichols. She met Lacy Lamar Gaddy in 1948 and married him the same year.
As a youth in high school, Sally participated in track (high and broad jump) and played basketball. She enjoyed watching sports and travelling. She toured the West Coast with her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and C. P., visited Scotland and Germany with friends, and, in 2009, she toured Italy with her eldest son, her grandson, and her granddaughter, where they all were hosted by her nephew, William Walker and his wife Elizabeth. In her later years, she was sustained by the love and companionship of her good friend, Frances Pigate. She was a long-standing member of the Timmonsville Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Mincey of Nichols; three sons, Lacy Lamar Gaddy, Jr., Edward Austin Gaddy, and Stanley Alexander Gaddy, Sr. (married to Lynette Thomas); granddaughter, Lacey Gaddy Funderburk; grandson, L L Gaddy III; great-grandson, Eli Hampton Gaddy. She was predeceased by her husband, three sisters, three brothers, and her grandson, Stanley Alexander Gaddy, Jr.
She will be missed by all.
