Columbia, SC – Andrew McKay White, 69, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his residence.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 14th, 2023 at 2 pm at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church, Timmonsville, S.C., following a 1:00 p.m. visitation in the church sanctuary.
Mr. White was born in Florence County, the son of the late John Evander White, Sr. and the late Jacquelyn McKay White Corey. Andy graduated in 1976 with a B.S. degree in business from Furman University, and was an expert title searcher for his brother's (Van’s and Craig’s) law firm, White and White for many years. Andy also worked as a professional tax preparer in Columbia, S.C., and, as well, was a talented carpenter who remodeled several homes, and aided his family in maintaining their rental properties. A friend to young and old, Andy enjoyed his family immensely and was always interested in the activities of his brothers and sister, and their associated nieces and nephews. He regularly visited his beloved Aunt Faye Severance of Florence, wrote poetry, loved taking trips to the SC State Farmer’s Market, and kept up a regular schedule of competitive chess. In addition, he was an active and loving member of his church family at St. Andrews Baptist Church. A prolific jokester, Andy was well known by all for his constant and endless stream of jokes which he shared with all who would listen.
His greatest pride in life was his daughter, Katherine Lorraine White, of Boston, Massachusetts.
Surviving are his daughter, Katherine White; two brothers, Van (Angie) White, Craig (Terri) White; sister, Teresa (Marc) Dobbs and his many nieces and nephews. Our family loved Andy, and we will all miss him.
Serving as Pallbearers are nephews: John “Johnny” Evander White, III, Jacob White, Stephen White, Dalton White, Stuart Couch, Daniel Couch, Harrison Dobbs and, Samson Tucker.
