Florence-Willie Joe White, Sr., 88, died in a local nursing center, Wednesday, January 25, 2017.

A funeral service will be Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the service until 8:00 p.m. . Burial will be Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Florence.

Mr. White was born in Florence County, the son of the late Frank D and Thelma Jones White. He was a car salesman for most of his working career.

He was first married to Juliette Dabney, the mother of his children, then to the late Bessie Hewitt.

Surviving are: two sons, Willie Joe (Carol) White, Jr., Gene White all of Timmonsville; two daughters, Libby ( Tony) Edwards, Timmonsville, Karen W. (Brad) Boles, Greenville; three sisters, Sada Cochran, Felicia Cashwell, Catherine Garcia all of Florence; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a twin brother, Wallie White, who passed away in 2014, John White, Frank White, Jr. and his sister, Jewel Redman.
