William (Bill) Edward Hobbs, Sr. 87, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at McLeod Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the Memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bill was born in Folkstone, NC to the late Mannie and Mae Bell Lanier Hobbs. He served in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and was a Vietnam Veteran. He served his country and retired after 20 years. He also worked for the S.C. State Forestry Commission and was a farmer. He loved to go camping in the mountains and at the beach, gardening, carpentry, and traveling with his wife. He also loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Maria Bueno Hobbs; son Richard (Windy) Hobbs, daughter, Michelle (Bob) Woodworth, son, Eddie (Tracie) Hobbs and sister Alice Lamoureaux; eight grandchildren, Amber (Michael)Stapleton, Allison (Brad)Woodworth, Phillip and Michael Hobbs, Cody and Carolina Hobbs, Matthew Fisher, Cody and Carolina Hobbs, Matthew Fisher, Cole (Ashley) Fisher; eight great-grandchildren, Ben, John, Ava and Colt Stapleton, Chase, Blake and Levi Woodworth and Lula Fisher.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Medical Staff at McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Home Health, McLeod Palliative and Hospice Care and the Staff at Bethea Rehabilitation for the excellent care that he received.
