Wilbur Alexander Cole, Sr., 76, entered into rest on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Born in Florence County SC, he was a son of the late Lavelle David Cole and the late Esther Carraway Cole.

He was an active member of Elim Baptist Church. He was a natural athlete and played all the sports at Southside High School and Timmonsville American Legion. Wilbur played Minor League Baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was inducted into the Florence Athletic Hall of Fame. He was the owner of several businesses in the area and a former state constable.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Dale Floyd Cole; sons, Alex Cole (Danielle), Casey Cole; grandchildren, Ansley Cole (Ben), Brock Cole; siblings, Gene Lawhon (Debbie C.), Alan Lawhon (Debbie M.), Suzette Reynolds (Greg); sister-in-law, Susan Cole; special friend, Jimmy Gregg; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, David Cole; his sister and brother-in-law who raised him; Lazette and Don Lawhon.

A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 11th, 2026, at Elim Baptist Church. The Rev. Cleve Calcutt will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
