Wayne Alton Shifflet, 86, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 in a Florence Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in McArthur, Ohio he was the son of the late Raymond and Evelyn McKinnis Shifflet. Mr. Shifflet was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Army. He served 30 years and was a combat veteran who served two tours in the Vietnam War and is the recipient of several award and recognitions, including the Bronze Star.
After retirement, he worked and served in several capacities, including as an expert handyman and as member of a number of mission trips where he provided his skills and expertise to help others in need. He is remembered for his dedication to work and his generosity of spirit. Mr. Shifflet was a loyal member of Sardis Baptist Church having served in many capacities and he will be especially remembered for his ready willingness to use his talents when called upon.
Surviving are: his wife, Lilias Cusaac Shifflet, three sons, Tim (Victoria) Shifflet, Todd (Alex) Shifflet, Tony (Teresa) Shifflet; daughter, Tina (Eddie) Lane; sister Reva Loudenslager; grandchildren, Christopher Shifflet, Kimberly (Cody) Davis, Nick (Rachel) Lane, Whitman and Grace Shifflet, Thomas (Carla) Shifflet, and Jennifer Miller; great-grandchildren Aiden Davis, Wyatt Lane, Jaycee and Tristen Miller, and Harmony and Sid Shifflet.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ted Shifflet; daughter, Terry Eileen Shifflet; brother Max Shifflet; and grandson Patrick Shifflet.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am - 11:00am Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Sardis Baptist Church followed by a memorial service in the church sanctuary. Interment with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
