Pamplico,  SC – Wayne R. Purvis, 76, SC passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019.

A graveside service will be at 2:00p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 at Woodside Cemetery in Pamplico. The family will have a time of visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday  at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of Robert and Becky Purvis, 2400 N. Pamplico Hwy, Pamplico at other times.

Mr. Purvis was born in Florence County, the son of the late Robert Napier and Doris McGee Purvis.  He served his country in the US Army.  Wayne was an Electronic Engineer before retiring.  He worked with JP Stevens Company of Pamplico until it closed.

He was married to the late Miriam Poston Purvis.

Surviving are a son, Robert M. (Becky) Purvis; two daughters, Sandra (Joey) Matthews and Sherry (Klinton) Moore; a brother, Melvin Purvis; two sisters, Gwen (David) Goins and Genevieve Floyd; Seven grandchildren, Hanna and Sera Purvis, Bradley Lawrence, Jamie Maynard, Jonathan and Jordan Poston, KC Moore and a great-grandchild, Londyn Maynard. He is preceded in death by a brother, Rudy Purvis and a sister Judy Collins.
