Obituary

W.A. Tolson entered into the loving arms of his Savior on July 12, 2025, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, family, and community service.

W.A. loved the Lord deeply and was devoted to his beloved wife, Amelia Ann Tolson, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A lifelong farmer, he found joy and purpose in the land he worked and also had a passion for NASCAR racing.

W.A.'s life was marked by notable accomplishments, including attending Newberry College. He was honored as the Outstanding Young Farmer in 1971 and recognized as the Outstanding Conservationist of Lee County in 1997. His dedication to agriculture and community extended through his service on the Lee County ASCS board and the board for the Bishopville Cotton Gin. In 1966, he helped establish Roy Hudgens Academy and served faithfully on its board.

W.A. was a committed deacon at First Baptist Church, Lynchburg, where he served with devotion for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Watson Marion Tolson and Rebecca T. Compton, and his sisters, Kathleen T. Broadway and Marian T. Gray.

W.A. is survived by his wife of 66 years, Amelia Ann Tolson; his son, Watson Tolson (Marie); daughter, Anna Marie Strickland (Eddie); grandchildren Andrew Tolson (Hannah), Kayla Keith (Shane), Chase Strickland (Lexi), and Alex Tolson (Gracie); and great-grandchildren Mason McGuire, Jase Keith, Loeffler Tolson, Brewer Tolson, Harper Strickland, Silas Strickland, W.A. Tolson, and Whitt Tolson.

His steadfast faith, love for family, and lifelong commitment to his community will be remembered by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank Agape Care and especially their caregivers Samantha and Wendy for their compassion.
