Ward McLendon Anderson, 82, entered into rest on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Born in Timmonsville SC, he was the son of the late Herbert S. Anderson and the late Sarah Morris Anderson.

Ward was a graduate of Timmonsville High School where he played football. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Francis Marion College. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was the co-owner and operator of Anderson Oil Company and the Bull Convenience Store. He was a dedicated member of Peniel Baptist Church and was always willing to share his faith.

Surviving are his children, Jennifer Dawn Allen (Mark), Ward McLendon Anderson, Jr. (Jessica), William Sloan Anderson (Regina), Katherine "Kit" Barnes (Charles); grandchildren, Mackenzie Ward (Briley), Jesse Allen, Karlie Anderson, Ford Anderson, Savanna Anderson, Kaylee Anderson, Lanie Johnson (Hutch), Peyton McGee, Bankston Lewis, Curran Lewis; brother and best friend, Henry Morris Anderson (Ann); and mother of his children, Gwen Anderson.

A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 28th, 2026, at Peniel Baptist Church. The Rev. Lyn Anderson and the Rev. Dave Shinault will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
