Wanda Hill Hamblen

N. Myrtle Beach, SC – Wanda Kay Hill Hamblen, 67 passed away on Sept. 25, 2018.

Funeral services will be Wednesday Oct. 3, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.Burial will follow in the Cartersville Baptist Cemetery.  Visitation will be held before the service at the funeral home Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.

Wanda was born in Florence County, in the Cartersville Community near Timmonsville.  She was the youngest of six girls,born to the late Joseph Chester and Josie Bernice Hodge Hill.  She attended Timmonsville Schools, graduating in 1968.  Wanda attended Francis Marion University and was employed  by a Rental Car Agency at the Florence Airport, where she met and married pilot Larry Hamblen.  They moved to Houston,Texas where she was employed by NASA until 1996.  While they were in Texas, Wanda was the soloist with the Kurland Street Band for 18 years.  In 2009 they moved to N. Myrtle Beach, SC.

She was married to the late Larry Hamblen.

Surviving are five sisters, Joan Hill, Barbara Wilkinson and her husband Bob, Cecelia Taylor, Grace Rogers,Beth Farmer and her husband,Phil; a special cousin, Ivy Sansbury, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Tom Taylor.
