Timmonsville, SC – Virginia Young Witherspoon, 89, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018.

Funeral services will be Tuesday Dec. 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. before the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Virginia was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late Victor and Edna Hutchinson Young.  She was a member of Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church.

Before his death in 2007, she was married for sixty years to the late Russell Witherspoon.

Surviving are a son, Gene (Kimberly) Witherspoon; son-in-law, Hubert S. (Judy) Jones; Daughter, Elaine (Mark) Severance; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Witherspoon  Jones, a brother, J.L. Young, sister, Jenelle Hardwick, and a great-grandchild, Bailey Lynn Cox.
