Violet Gay DeLung, 80, passed from this earthly home to her new life on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.  The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. before the service.

Violet was born in Pax, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Zackary and Ida Belle Jones Hancock.  She worked in the Hotel/Motel Industry as a Front Desk Manager before retiring.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas DeLung who passed away in 2018.

Surviving are two sons, Jeff (Mary) DeLung, John Thomas , Jr. (Cathy) DeLung; daughter, Vanessa (Foye) Kelly; brother, Zackary Taylor Hancock; sisters Jackie Scarbro, Sara Kirk; and her grandchildren, Brandi Varnadore, Eric Anderson, Chasity Padgett, John Russell DeLung, Jacob Thomas DeLung, Jeffrey DeLung, Alexis DeLung; 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
