Timmonsville, SC- Verna McCartha Courtney, 91, passed away on Thursday, Oct 17, 2019.

Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 21, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery.  The family will have a time of visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday,  before the service at the church.

Verna was born in Lexington County, SC, the daughter of the late Jesse and Hattie Schwartz McCartha.  She worked many years for Patillo Printing and Office  Supplies before retiring.  She was a member of Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church. Verna loved working in her flower garden, on her blueberry farm and bird watching especially, Humming Birds and Cardinals, reminding her of her late husband.

She was married to the late Arthur Ray Courtney for sixty-one years before his passing.

Surviving are three sons, Randy A. (Gail) Courtney, Larry E. Courtney, Jonathan J.(Wendy) Courtney; two daughters, Verna Rae (David) Hardwick, Naomi (Carl) Andrews; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great -grandchildren.
