Plummer, Jr.
July 1, 1917 – February 23, 2015
Florence- Mr. T.P. Plummer, Jr., 97, passed away in a local hospital on Monday afternoon Feb. 23, 2015.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.,Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.
Mr. Plummer was born in Lamar, SC, the son of the late Toland Pierce, Sr. and Nellie Bass Plummer. He was a Sgt. in the US Army during WWII in the 30th Division, 118th Infantry. After his service, he went to work with Southern Bell Telephone Company as a Switchman. Other activities include Telephone Pioneers of America, Hampton Masonic Lodge #204, and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Mr. Plummer was married to the late Hazel Lockhart Plummer.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia P. (Danny) Pierce, Florence, Dedree P. (Walter) Owens, Mt. Pleasant, SC; a sister Mary Norris Severance, Timmonsville and grandchildren, Brett (Mary Neale) Fowler, Ethan Syracuse, Margot Syracuse and two great-grandchildren, Will Fowler and Kate Fowler. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Dick, Dillie and Jesse Plummer.
The family would like to thank the staff of Agape Hospice for the care given to Mr. Plummer during his illness.
