Obituary

Steve Evans Freeman, 68, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 29, 2025.

The family will be holding a private celebration of life on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Steve was born in Marion County, the beloved son of the late Sarah (Frank) Logan and Stanley Evans Freeman. A God-fearing man, Steve had a deep love for the Lord and found great comfort and strength in reading his Bible daily. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he lived it with quiet devotion and kindness.

A gifted musician and artist, Steve found joy in expressing himself creatively. He worked hard throughout his life, taking on many roles—from refinishing antiques and woodworking to painting houses. Whatever the task, Steve gave it his all. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand—often giving the shirt off his back to someone in need. Steve had a lifelong passion for football and loved everything about the game. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family and friends, who brought him joy and companionship through every season of his life.

He shared many years with his lifelong partner and best friend, the late Belinda Gail Walker.

Steve is survived by his children, Patrick (Tabatha) Freeman, Stephanie Freeman, and Holley (Jared) Singletary; his sister, Diane (Ralph) Moody; grandchildren, Kailin Dezirae Freeman, Bentley Hurst, and Kinsley Singletary; and many loving nieces and nephews, including Stacey, Randy, Ralph Jr., Johnny, Stanley, and Roy.

He is preceded in death by his son, Stanley Evans Freeman; sister, Patricia Allen; grandchildren, Heavenlyann Grace Freeman, Wrenley William Freeman, and Kingsley James Evan Freeman; niece, Rose Marie; and his beloved dog, Harry.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the team at Patriot Hospice. Steve received compassionate care from wonderful nurses, social workers, and especially his aide, Diane, who became like family during his time on hospice.

Steve's legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
