Timmonsville, SC – John Stephen "Steve" Carter, 66, passed away Friday April 9, 2021.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Unity Christian Fellowship, Timmonsville.  The family will have a time of visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021 at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Social distancing will be observed, please use caution and wear a mask.

Mr. Carter was born in Florence County, the son of Angela Coleman Carter and the late Richard J. Carter.  He was employed as a logger with Carter Logging Company.  Steve served his country in the US Marine Corp.

Surviving are five brothers, Hank Carter, Billy (Sudie) Carter, Robert Carter, Mitchell (Cindy) Carter, Elton (Nikki) Carter; sisters, Angela (Lloyd) Allen, Cynthia (Thomas Bryant) Carter, Susan (Mike) Gainey, Valerie (Ronnie) Lynch; three children and a large number of nieces and nephews.
