Florence, SC – Shirley Fahr Meyers Carter, passed away on March 17,2023 surrounded by her family after a long illness.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 24, 2023, at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will have a time of visitation before the service at the church beginning at 1:00, with the services beginning at 2:30.

Mrs. Carter was born in Paragould, Arkansas the daughter of the late Calvin and Dorothy Richardson Fahr. Shirley was a member of Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church.  A lifelong entrepreneur, she opened and operated three beauty salons in Florence. Shirley Lou's, Shirley Mac's, and Shirley's House of Beauty were places that she used her talents to make everyone not only gorgeous, but an extended member of her family.  Shirley loved the outdoors and animals of all kinds.  She was a member of the Eastern Star.

She was married to the late Cleburn F. (Sonny) Carter.

Surviving are her children, Danny (Lurlene) Meyers, and Renee' Meyers (Dickie) Kirby, Novella Prince; two sisters, Lola (Perry) Whitaker, Verneda Jackson; her loving eight grandchildren, Danny I, (Joy) Meyers, Jacob M. (Brie) Meyers, Katherine Kelsey Meyers, Darol A. (Stacy) Kirby, Kylie K (Chaz) Perry, Joseph B. (Jordan) Kirby, Philip H. Prince II, Walker M. Prince, seven great -grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church, 3234 South Hill Road, Timmonsville, SC.
