Sherwood Ray Gray, 90, entered into rest on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Born in Lake City SC, he was the son of the late Sam Clyde Gray and the late Gracie Gaskins Gray.

He served in the United States Air Force where he was a member of the Strategic Air Command. He attended First Free Will Baptist Church. Sherwood retired from Vulcraft after over 30 years of service as a truck driver.

Surviving are his son, Randy Gray (Dianne Grainger).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda J. Gray; son, David Gray; brothers, Herbert Foster Gray, Sam Clyde Gray, Jr., Harold Laverne Gray, Hoyt Charles Gray; sisters, Martha Anne Gray, Nancy Gray McClam.

A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026, in the Layton-Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
