Timmonsville, SC – Roy Tidwell, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, Dec. 11, 2022.

Graveside services will be Monday, Dec. 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery in Timmonsville, SC. The family will speak to those attending after the service.

Roy was born in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas to the late Roy and Velma Eugenia Webb Tidwell.  Roy served his country in the US Marine Corp. during WWII.  He retired from AT&T as a Lineman.  Roy was a unique Texan and enjoyed going back to visit friends and family.   He was instrumental in organizing the Peniel Baptist Tractor show for 9 years.  He enjoyed restoring old tractors and invited friends and representatives each year to bring and display their tractors for a fun day of activities at the church.  He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He was a Gold Star Family member due to loss of a family member in war times.

He was married to the late Carol Bishop Tidwell for 61 years until her death in 2013.

Surviving are a son, Kraig (Becky) Tidwell; grandchildren, Kraig Brock (Jaylene) Tidwell, Kristen E. (Brandon) Collins and 8 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death  by two sons, Erich L. Tidwell, that died in 1969 in military service and Lance Tidwell in 2021.
