Mrs. Rose Mae Watford, 89, entered into rest on Monday, August 31, 2026. Born in Eufaula, OK, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Bertie Tilley Alvey.

She was the widow of the late Jerry Watford. She met him while he served in the U.S. Navy and later moved from L.A., California to Lamar, SC. She worked in the family business as a secretary for over 36 years. She enjoyed travelling when she was able. Rose will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her son, Daniel Watford; daughter, Susan Raynor; brother, Donald Gene Alvey; sister, Wilma Lou Branham; grandchildren, Chris Raynor, Adam Raynor, Jerry Raynor, Codeè (Robert); 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, Jessie, Raymond, and David Alvey; sister, Joanne Hicks.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Friday evening at her daughter's residence, 2013 Herring Place, Florence, SC 29506. A private burial will be held in Florence National Cemetery.
