Obituary

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Ronald Edward Anderson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear friend, who was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on October 28, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1947, in Darlington, SC, Ron was the son of James Edward and Jennie Brown Anderson. He attended St. John’s High School, graduating in 1966 and later Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, Texas. Ron worked at ESAB for many years before stepping into a well deserved retirement. Ron found happiness in life’s simple blessings: a peaceful day spent fishing, time spent at church, family movie nights, and the sound of laughter shared among friends. He loved a good story, a joke, his greyhound Riley, and any opportunity to bring people together. His warmth, humor, and genuine love for others made everyone feel welcome and valued. There are no words to adequately describe the magnitude of Ron’s impact on so many people’s lives.

His faith was an important part of who he was, and his love for the Lord was reflected in the way he lived and loved. Ron was a long time member of Darlington First Church of God where he joyfully served for many years in the children’s ministry as well as many leadership roles. After moving to Florence, South Carolina, he became a faithful member of Berean Baptist Church. The fellowship he shared at Berean held a special place in his heart. Above all, Ron’s greatest joy was his family.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Susan Martin Anderson; his five children, Dawn Hutchinson, Scott Anderson (Karin), Brian Anderson (Jody), Spring Richardson (Wade), and Andrew Cooke (Jes); 13 cherished grandchildren and four precious great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family members and dear friends whose lives were made richer by knowing him.

A special thank you to MUSC, Encompass Rehabilitation Center and Florence Agape Hospice for the loving care that has been provided over the past few months.

A celebration of life honoring Ron will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 14, 2026, at the Berean Baptist Church Pavilion.

Memorials may be made to: Berean Baptist Church Missions, 2450 S. Center Rd., Darlington, SC 29532 or to: Florence Agape Hospice, 301 Rainbow Drive, Florence, SC 29501.
