Robert J. Stamp

Florence- Robert J. Stamp, 94, died in a local nursing facility on Thursday, December18, 2014.

Funeral services will beMonday, December 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Interment willfollow at the National Cemetery with militaryhonors.Visitation will begin at 12:30before the service at the church.

Mr. Stamp was born in Goose Lake, Iowa,the son of the late John F. and Christine Nissen Stamp.Robert graduated from Clinton High School, Clinton, Iowain 1937. Robert served his country in the National Guard from 1938 to 1939.

He went into active duty inthe US Army in 1942 at Camp Dodge, Iowa.He served during the Rhineland Central EuropeCampaign receiving the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, and AmericanTheater Ribbon during his tour.Afterthe war he remained in Germanyas a supervisor during the reconstruction era returning to Elsmere, Delawareto start his own construction company. He ended his construction career as SiteConstruction Manager at the Vera Cruz Nuclear Plant in Mexico.

Robert was married in 1947 toJeanne Eleanor Edgar in Stuttgart, Germany. Theyremained married until her passing in 1987. Robert and Jeanne were foundingmembers of St. Philips Lutheran Church in Wilmington, DE. He married Mickie Kylen in1996 with whom he was reacquainted after returning to St. Philips Church forthe 40 th year reunion.Robertand Mickie remained active in Hope Lutheran Churchin Vance, SCand Ocean View Presbyterian Church in Ocean View, DE. Mickie passed away December 1 st 2014.

Robert was a member of theLions Club of Fenwick Island, DE and was a master Mason of Lodge 31 in Newport, DE.

Surviving are his son, RobertJ. Stamp, Jr. and wife Yvonne, Florence;daughters, Karen Christine Stamp, Florence, and Holly Kylen, Bethesda, Maryland;grandchildren, Robert James "Jim" ( Nancy) Stamp, Florence, SC, and Jeanne Yvonne "Vonni" Stamp, Leesburg, VA.
