Florence- Robert Matthews, 81, died in a local nursing center April 8, 2016. A graveside service will be Monday, April 11, 2016 at 2:00 at Florence Memorial Gardens The family will speak to those attending after the service.

Mr. Matthews was born in Coward, SC, the son of the late Ocie and Lyra McGee Matthews. He served in the US Army. Robert was a card tender with Delta Mills before his retirement. He was a member of West Florence Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Karen (Terry) Wallace, Terri (Aaron) Proctor all of Florence; sister,Carolyn (Palmer) Lane, Florence; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to West Florence Baptist Church, 3354 Hoffmeyer Rd, Florence, SC.
