Timmonsville- Robert W. Fisher, 86, died in a local hospital, Monday, Jan 26, 2015after an illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Timmonsville. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:00 p.m. before the service at the Funeral Home.

Robert was born in Strasburg, VA, the son of the late William E and Della Racey Fisher. He was a member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Fisher was a retired US Navy Veteran, serving his country during the World War II era, Korean Conflict era, Vietnam era and peace time. He served on the USS Howard W. Gilmore.

He was married to the late Joan DeForrest Lane.

Surviving are a nephew, Joseph "Bozie" Lane and his wife, Teresa, Timmonsville, Wayne (Adrienne) Fisher, Strasburg, VA, a niece, Belinda (Frankie) Lane Tedder, Timmonsville; two sisters, Florella Appel, Richmond, VA and Mildred Orndorff, Strasburg, VA.; great nephews, Shae and Lance Lane, Gary Wayne Fisher; great nieces, Kelli Tedder and April Tiller; a sister-in-law, Rometta Fisher. He is preceded in death by a brother, William Fisher.
