Richard A. Schubert (aka Poppy), 80, formerly of Florence, SC went home to be with his Savior and the love of his life, Nanny, on January 27, 2024.

A memorial service will be held on February 9, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Florence Memorial Gardens, 3320 S. Cashua Drive, Florence, SC  29501.

Richard was born in Greensboro NC, the son of Fritz K. and Juanita Schubert. He graduated from Wingate College in 1966. In the same year, he married Sybil Camlin Schubert. He worked for Camlin Packing Company and Exide Battery for years. In retirement, he drove the bus for The Methodist Manor which he viewed as a ministry. He and Sybil served at St. Paul United Methodist Church for years. Richard was a lifelong NASCAR and Washington Redskins fan. His passion later in life was spending time with his grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by Sybil, his wife of 48 years. He is survived by daughter, Sherri Schubert Hawkins (Weston) and son, Richard A. Schubert Jr. (Maria). Richard had 7 grandchildren; Jack (Alyssa), Tom (Kirsten), Luke, & Reid Hawkins and Stephen, Sarah Cathryn, & Emma Schubert.
