Rebecca G. White, 72, of Timmonsville, SC, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Born on November 28, 1953, in Florence, SC, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Ernest Gennette, Sr. and the late Mary Dorothy Huntley Gennette.

Rebecca graduated from McClenaghan High School in Florence, SC, as a member of the Class of 1972.

Rebecca was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She shared 53 years of marriage with her husband, Hubert W. "Bert" White, Jr. Together they raised a family and watched their children and grandchildren grow.

Family was the most important part of Rebecca's life. She especially loved being a grandmother and was very proud of each of her grandchildren. She loved being involved in their lives and spending time with them whenever she could. Rebecca especially enjoyed holidays and family gatherings, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and loved ones. She kept pictures of her grandchildren in her wallet and carried them with her wherever she went, a reflection of the special place they held in her heart.

Rebecca had a huge heart for animals and loved them all. The many dogs and cats that shared her life were a source of comfort, companionship, and happiness. She loved each one dearly. To Rebecca, they were family, and she will be greatly missed by the cats and dogs she loved so much.

Rebecca, alongside her husband, Bert, owned and operated The Depot, a local convenience store in Timmonsville. Known for her kindness and friendly nature, she was a familiar face to generations of customers. She and Bert recently became members of Olanta Presbyterian Church.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Hubert W. "Bert" White, Jr.; her daughters, Natalie White McAllister and Candice White Huggins (Donnie); her brother, Edwin Ernest Gennette, Jr. (Ruth); her sisters, Catherine Coleman (Boyd), Anne Bader (Gary), and her identical twin sister, Rachel Pierce; her grandchildren, Sydney McAllister, Ashley Huggins, Abby McAllister, Maddox Huggins, and Mason Huggins; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son-in-law, Jamie McAllister.

Rebecca will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, generosity, love, and the memories she shared with those closest to her will be cherished for years to come.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Byrd Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Florence Area Humane Society in honor of Rebecca's lifelong love of animals.
