Randle Kenneth Wood, 71 passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024 in the loving presence of his family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday July 3, 2024 at 12:00 in the chapel at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.  The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral Home.

Mr. Wood was born in Griffin, Georgia, the son of the late Charlie Kenneth and Pearline Rowell Wood.  He attended Lamar Free Will Baptist Church.  He was a Rigger at Vulcraft Steel Mill before retiring.  He enjoyed drag racing, working with his hands building things, fishing and talking about fishing.  He enjoyed animals and his family lovingly called him an "animal whisperer," being outdoors and especially spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Hilda Howard Wood; son, Terry (Tonya) Strickland; Kimberly (J.J.) Altman; brother, Randy Wood; grandchildren, Tarra Strickland, Amanda Altman, Joshua (Samantha) Altman and his 3 great-grandchildren, Easton King, Jaxson Altman, Colton Altman.  He is preceded in death by two sisters, Cynthia Register, Joann Sturkie and brother, Jerry Wood, O'Neil "Bubba" Wood.
