Obituary

Timmonsville, SC – Alex Randolph Coward, 73, died Sunday, August 23, 2015 in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.

A funeral service will be today (Tuesday) August 25, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Timmonsville. Visitation will be prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Randall, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in Florence County, the son of the late Willie and Mary Matthews Coward. He retired from Vulcraft after 33 years of service as a line foreman. He also enjoyed farming. Randall was very active in the Holiness church sharing his love and talent of playing the guitar and singing.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Margaret Granger Coward, Timmonsville; a daughter, Karen Coward of Timmonsville, Naomi Schmitt and her daughter, Sarah Elisabeth, that was his extended daughter and grand-daughter; a brother, James (Lettie Mae) Coward, Timmonsville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Coward. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Rev. Joe Coward, sisters, Edith Lee, Katie Hall and Leola Powell.

The family would like to Thank his brother, James Coward, friends, Seby Rhodarmer, Roy Mixon and Jimmy Sims for coming each Friday afternoon sharing scripture, singing and playing guitars.
