Florence- Philip Carlton "Phil" Kingsbury, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Oct.12, 2016.
Funeral services will be held in the Mausoleum at Florence Memorial Gardens at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum before the service.
Mr. Kingsbury was born in Ravenna, Ohio, the son of the late Ralph Nelson and LaRue Miller Kingsbury. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Agricultral Engineering. He met and married the love of his life, Carol S. Kingsbury of Fremont, NC.
Phil was very humbled to have served with the 82nd Airborne Division as a US Army Ranger. He also served his country during the Korean War as a Company Commander with the 36-512th Engr. CO (DT) group stationed in Korea. He was a member of the American Legion Post #160. His working career included sales of insurance, automobiles and welding equipment.
Survivors are: his wife of 56 years, Carol Smith Kingsbury; two daughters, Debbie (Dan) Garrison, Jane (Burt) Jordan all of Florence; grandchildren, Rachel and Daniel, Casey and Carson; a nephew, Jeff (Cheryl) Kingsbury of Carmel, Indiana. Also a beloved dog, Bingo.
