Florence- Myrtle Surles Harris, 98, passed away March 20, 2015 in a local Assisted Living Facility in Florence, SC.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral. The family will speak to visitors after the service. A private burial will follow the service.

Mrs. Harris was born in Florence, SC, the daughter of the late Edward Willie and Nellie Turner Surles. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church and later moved to Calvary Baptist Church. She was involved in many church activities. With her loving spirit, she worked with children of Kindergarten age and later became a caregiver, working for local families in Florence.

Myrtle was married to the late Byron Taft Harris.

Surviving are her daughter of Marietta, GA, Jeanette Farris; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and nieces and nephews. Myrtle is survived by a loving daughter-in-law, Gail Harris. She is preceded in death by a son, Robert ( Bob) Harris.
