Monroe B. Smith Florence- Monroe Benjamin "Ben" Smith, 73, died March 31, 2016 in the McLeod Hospice Facility.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the National Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Mr.Smith was born in Florence, SC, the son of the late Cader B. and Louise Hudson Smith. He was retired from the US Army with 34 years of service. He worked as a Fire Marshall at the Wellman Plant in Darlington, SC. Ben was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church of Mars Bluff. Ben enjoyed coaching the little league baseball for years. He was a member of the Delmae Ruritan Club.

Surviving are three children, a son, Davis (Traci) Smith, Florence; two daughters, Andrea (Mike) Collins, Darlington, Tiffany Smith, Lake City; a sister, Mary Barrow, Florence, SC, and twelve grandchildren, Robbie (Ashley), Jessica, Hunter, Landyn, Tye, Shamra, Mayson, Nicholas, Carleigh, Ryan, Jillian and Bridgette and four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Wyatt, Shania and Christian. Ben was preceded in death by two sisters, Shelby Ford and Vonnie Jenkins.
