Timmonsville – Mitchell Carlyle Sims, 69, died at his residence on Sunday, June 12, 2016 after an illness.

A memorial service will be Wednesday evening, June 15, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will speak to those attending after the service until 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Sims was born in Florence County (Timmonsville) the son of Merlee Hickson Sims and the late Carlyle Sims. He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Mitchell retired from AT&T as a service repairman.

Surviving are two sons, Mark Sims and Michael Sims both of Timmonsville; daughter, Wendy (Ricky) Bryant, Effingham; brother, Lynn (Janice) Sims, Timmonsville; three sisters, Sheila Pate, Timmonsville, Phyllis (Johnny) Chapman, Society Hill, Carla (James) Poston, Florence and eight grandchildren, Kasey, Adam, Dylan, Jacob, Hayden, Bridgette, Brittany and Jada and one great-grandchild, Revenah.
