Timmonsville, SC – Merlee Hickson Sims, 90, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 15, 2017.

A memorial service will be Monday evening, April 17, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will speak to those attending after the service until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Sims was born in Timmonsville, SC, the daughter of the late Elijah and Sadie Ridgell Hickson. She attended Sardis Baptist Church.

Merlee was married to the late Carlyle Sims.

Surviving are a son, Lynn (Janice) Sims, Timmonsville; three daughters, Sheila Pate, Carla (James) Poston all of Timmonsville, Phyllis Chapman, Society Hill; twenty grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death sons, Mitchell, Allen, Ricky and Marion Sims and daughter, Gloria Wilkes; three brothers, Hubert, Aaron and Dick Hickson; six sisters, Pearl, Mae, Mary, Rhonie, Lindy and Elmer.
