Obituary

Mary Frances Webster, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2026, after an extended illness.

Born and raised in the Trinity community of Sumter County, Mary Frances spent her life bringing joy to those around her. She was known for her infectious laugh, warm smile, and kind heart. Compassionate, caring, and full of life, she never met a stranger and had a special gift for making people feel welcome and loved.

Mary Frances was the daughter of Alvin and Billie Hodge Green and sister to Donnie, Wayne, and Jack Green. She graduated from Mayewood High School and was married to Freddy Dennis for 35 years until his passing in 2002. Together they raised their daughters in Florence, where Mary Frances devoted herself to her family and remained actively involved inschool and community activities. She worked for several local businesses, including House of Hope Mission Mart.

In 2005, she married Carl Webster, and together they shared many happy years. They loved spending time in the mountains and making memories with family and friends. Mary Frances found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing the piano, working in her yard, laughing with loved ones, and spending time with those she cherished. Her vibrant personality, infectious laugh, and beautiful smile could light up any room, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Webster; her daughters, Dibbe Edwards (Bob) and Dana Via (David); her stepdaughter, Chrissy Haughwout(Gary); her brothers, Donnie(Carolyn) Green and Jack (Denise) Green; her stepsister, Claire (Bill) Tanneberger; her grandchildren, Sara Edwards and Devin Via; step grandchildren, Reagan, Madeleine, and Alec Haughwout; her special cousin and lifelong best friend, Jim Green; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Billie Green; her first husband, Freddy Dennis; her brother, Wayne Green; and her beloved grandson, Nash Via.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, June 23, at the mausoleum chapel Florence Memorial Gardens. Family visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., with the service following at 3:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at McLeod Hospice House for their exceptional care and compassion. Their kindness, support, and the way they treated her like family will always be deeply appreciated and remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to House of Hope of the Pee Dee or McLeod Hospice.

The Directors of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home are caring for the family.
