Florence - Mary Morris "Tommie" Gibbs, 75, died Wednesday evening, June 8, 2016 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. The family will visit with those attending after the service. Mrs. Gibbs was born in Charlotte, North Carolina the daughter of the late R. Phil Morris and Elizabeth Hoover Whitener. "Tommie" graduated from King's Business College and worked as an Administrative Assistant with a Property Management firm before retiring. She was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Hagood L. Gibbs, a son, John Stauber, Myrtle Beach, step-son, Rush Anderson; daughter, Ann (Scott) Dowdy, Florence; two sisters, Jane M. Pipkin, Elizabeth "Ann" Crook, both of Darlington and three grandchildren, Lauren Stauber, Ethan Dowdy and Brennan Dowdy. Tommie leaves behind her loving and constant companion "Buddy" her pet Yorkie, She is preceded in death by two brothers, James "Jim" Morris, William "Bill" Morris.
