Mary Rogers Sports, 90, went to her heavenly home on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025.

Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 26, 2025 at 1:00p.m. in the Chapel at the Bethea Home.  The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 12:00 in the chapel  before the service. Interment  will be Monday, Sept. 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Florence National Cemetery in Florence, SC.  She will be laid to rest next to her late husband, William D. Sports who passed away in 2012.

Mary was born in Florence Country, the daughter of the late Foster and Leola McAllister Rogers.  She was an active member of Bethea Baptist Church.  As a military wife, she traveled worldwide.  She raised her children during hard times, but she made it look so easy.  Japan, England, and Germany were among the many places they lived and many memories were made.  After her husband's retirement from the Air force, she owned and operated Mary's Catering Service.  She catered many weddings and events in the Florence area and her cakes were always the showpiece of the event.  She retired from Merita Bakery in 2000.  In her final years, she was a resident of Bethea Retirement Community where she made many friends.

Surviving are her children, Jean (Harold) Rice, Patty (Jerry) Hicks, William (Dianne) Sports, Vicky (Dale) Richardson, Janet (George) Privette; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death  by her sisters, Christeen Pigate and Ernestine Porter and a granddaughter, Kristi Dennis.
